Puff Daddy
Born in New York in 1970, Sean "Puffy" Combs began his music career as an A&R scout for Uptown Records during his college days at Howard University. In 1993, he set up Bad Boy Entertainment out of his apartment where he signed rappers Craig Mack and Notorious B.I.G. In the mid-90's, Combs branched out to the R&B world and released records by Faith Evans and 112. The mogul has also taken a front seat in the studio by producing artists such a Lil' Kim, LL Cool J, Boyz II Men, Mariah Carey and Aretha Franklin. Puffy has been the center of controversy on several occasions for his alleged involvement with the death of rapper Tupac Shakur and the over-use of samples in his music. |
