Welcome !
    Vegas DeMilo
While Vegas DeMilo may not be as well-known as such spiritual brothers as matchbox twenty, Third Eye Blind, and Everclear, the San Francisco-based quintet’s lo-fi but catchy alt-rock is bound to earn them wider recognition. Brothers Alec Johnson (bass) and Foster Calhoun (who uses his middle name as his last professionally) had been playing together since they were teenagers in the south. Moving to San Francisco in 1994, they formed Vegas DeMilo, taking the band’s name from an obscure AC/DC lyric.

The band spent two years refining its sound and recording demos before releasing their self-titled debut on tiny indie label Starving Cowboy in 1996. By this time, their shifting line-up solidified to include guitarist/keyboardist Brad Wait and drummer Steve Perry. The debut album found some success on college radio and a few commercial radio stations, helped along by vigorous touring on the West Coast. Adding second guitarist Dug Nichols a year later cemented the line-up, which has remained stable ever since.

Vegas DeMilo’s second album, Before it Gets Old, was released early in 1999. Conceived as a tribute to life in San Francisco, the album earned widespread accolades for acerbic and witty tunes like “My Brilliant Career” and “Count Me Out.” The band again accrued major airplay and sales were brisk, attracting major label attention. Since the album’s release, the band has again toured extensively, and recently recorded “Precious,” a new song available exclusively at MUSICBLITZ.
