Welcome !
    Madonna
Born in 1958 in Bay City, Michigan, Madonna Louise Veronica Ciccone has, throughout her career, changed her image more times than Michael Jackson has changed faces. The sexy, sassy diva got her start when a boyfriend let her sing in his band, followed by a stint as a dancer and back-up singer for disco star, Patrick (“Born To Be Alive”). She convinced the DJ at New York hot spot, Danceteria, to play demos of her original material, which led to a deal with Sire Records. Her club hit, “Everybody” (1982), was followed her self-titled debut, (1983). In 1984, she bolstered an envelope-pushing rep with her video for “Borderline,” which depicted interracial love, and the vid clip for “Lucky Star,” which boasted erotic peeks at her mid-section. She continued to up the stakes in the controversy game with the 1986 song “Papa Don’t Preach” (1986), about unwed moms keeping their babies, and 1989’s ‘Like A Prayer” video, complete with burning crosses and a black Jesus. Condemned by the Vatican, the clip led Pepsi to cancel her endorsement deal, which boosted her worldwideprofile even more. Naughty roles in flicks like Desperately Seeking Susan and Body of Evidence, as well as her own bio-flick, Truth Or Dare, served to solidify her “bad girl of pop” persona. Stuffy, feminist critics have often condemned her brash “I’m-a-boy-toy-and-proud-of-it” ‘tude, but Madonna has proven to be far more than just a sexed up diva. She’s a staunch activist for gay rights and AIDs awareness, and she has also proven to be powerful business woman, starting her own Maverick label in 1992. At 42, she continues to adapt to current trends and remain a vital force in pop music.
