Welcome !
Me First & the Gimme Gimmes
With a roster that reads like a Who’s Who in Modern Punk Rock, Me First & the Gimme Gimmes aspire to be nothing more than a fun side project for the punk rock elite. Bassist Fat Mike (Fat Wreck Chords head honcho and member of NOFX), guitarist Chris Shiflett (Foo Fighters, ex-No Use For A Name), guitarist Joey Cape (Lagwagon), drummer Dave Raun (Rich Kids on LSD), and singer Spike Slawson make up the band’s nucleus, but the line-up often expands, and has included such luminaries as Green Day’s Billie Joe Armstrong, Rancid’s Tim Armstrong, punk rock über-legend Mike Watt, Screeching Weasel’s Ben Weasel and Danny Vapid, and Epitaph Records head Brett Gurewitz, among many others. The band does nothing but cover songs, and cut a series of 7” singles named for the artists they were covering (including [John] Denver, Billy [Joel], Paul [Simon], [Neil] Diamond, and Barry [Manilow]) throughout the mid-‘90s before finally releasing a full-length, Have A Ball, in late 1997. Further 7-inches were devoted to Elton John, Simon & Garfunkel, and James Taylor, while 1999’s sophomore full-length, Are A Drag, was comprised entirely of show tunes. The band continues to perform live and record as their busy schedules with their “day job” bands allow.

Me First & the Gimme Gimmes Country Roads MP3 Punk
Driving through this John Denver tune might seem like a good idea, but this (allegedly) punk rock version makes a wrong turn.

Me First & the Gimme Gimmes Wild World MP3 Punk
Punk-lite supergroup MFG2 unearth all of the peppy, poppy fun and lovelorn angst that this Cat Stevens nugget has to offer -- but unfortunately the song still sucks, big time.
