Welcome !
    Screeching Weasel
One of the most popular and influential bands on the pop-punk scene, Chicago's Screeching Weasel has long been a shifting line-up of musicians centered on vocalist/guitarist Ben Weasel (nee Foster). Known equally for his heavily Ramones-influenced sound, his sarcastic, pop-culture obsessed lyrics, and his strict D.I.Y. attitude (especially as a key contributor to indie punk bible Maximumrocknroll), Weasel formed the first Screeching Weasel line-up in 1986, along with guitarist John Jughead and bassist Steve Cheese. Quickly giving up his bass duties, Weasel recruited Vinnie Bovine, and the quartet released their self-titled debut on tiny Underdog Records in 1987. The musical chairs began immediately after the debut's release, with Bovine getting kicked out of the band, replaced by Warren "Fish" Ozzfish. Heading out on the road, Weasel and Jughead joined forces with Roadkill after some California gigs, and the label released the classic Boogadaboogadaboogada in 1989. Another round of musical chairs saw Cheese and Ozzfish out, replaced by drummer Brian Vermin and bassist Danny Vapid. This line-up released several EPs and singles before calling it a day.

The break-up was short-lived, though. Coming back together for a reunion show to help pay off old band debts, Screeching Weasel decided to give it another try, with a new line-up including Weasel, Jughead, Vapid (who moved to second guitar), bassist Dave Naked, and drummer Dan Panic. Lookout! Records picked the band up for 1991's seminal My Brain Hurts, but this line-up would again be short-lived, with no fewer than three people taking over the bass chores before Vapid switched back in 1992. In 1993, the band released what is widely considered its best album, Anthem For a New Tomorrow, but the band broke up again the following year.

Following the second breakup, Weasel, Vapid, and Panic formed a heavily Ramones-influenced band called the Riverdales, releasing a well-received album and opening Green Day's tour. Jughead joined the band, and Lookout! quickly convinced the Riverdales to become Screeching Weasel once more. The line-up has since continued to shift, with Weasel and Jughead as the only real constants. The Screeching Weasel name lives on, though, with their latest album, Teen Punks in Heat, seeing release late in 2000.

Screeching Weasel Gotta Girlfriend MP3 Punk
More infectiously catchy pop-punk from the masters of the genre -- with the Ramones gone, who can we count on for this stuff if not Screeching Weasel?
