Sevendust
Yet another member of the late-1990s rap-metal fraternity, Sevendust distinguishes itself from the rest of the big-shorts brigade with its not-so-secret weapon -- singer Lajon Witherspoon, a tattooed black dude who can sing circles around the likes of Jonathan Davis, Fred Durst and Zack De La Rocha. Formed in Atlanta Georgia in 1995, Sevendust began life as Crawlspace, recording "My Pain" for the Mortal Kombat: More Kombat CD before a lawsuit forced a name-change. Signed to TVT Records after a showcase at 1996 Gavin Convention, Sevendust has toured relentlessly ever since, slowly but steadily carving a niche with rap-metal fans looking for something slightly different. Their second album, Home, was released in late 1999. |
