Welcome !
    Pete Droge
When trying to get your career in the music biz off the ground, it often pays to have a patron. It worked for singer/songwriter Pete Droge, whose friendship with Pearl Jam's Mike McCready was a big help in getting his first record deal. Droge signed with American Records for his 1994 debut album, Necktie Second, and quickly proved he wasn't riding McCready's coattails, as his roots-rock sound earned him critical raves and favorable comparisons to the likes of Tom Petty and John Mellencamp. The album's first single, "If You Don't Love Me (I'll Kill Myself)" was a hit on Adult Album Alternative radio (then a brand-new format), and Necktie Second was a modest success. His sophomore release (as Pete Droge & the Sinners), 1996's Find A Door, saw less success, but this can be attributed more to American's well-publicized financial failings at the time than any fault with the record, which again received a great deal of critical praise. Droge jumped ship in 1997, moving to Epic subsidiary 57 Records for his third release, Spacey and Shakin'. Droge has also found success as a producer, working with the likes of Elaine Summers and Jerry Joseph, and as an engineer, most notably on Ian Moore's And All the Colors. He made his big-screen debut in 2000, appearing in Cameron Crowe's Almost Famous alongside Summers, playing the Hyatt Singers and performing one of his original compositions, "Small Time Blues." He's currently hard at work on his fourth album (with many of the Sinners on board), and a preview of his latest work, "I Can't Help From Crying Sometime," is available exclusively at MUSICBLITZ.
