Beck
Los Angeles native Beck Hanson has released six albums to date. Experimenting with multi-tracks and relying on heavy helpings of bluegrass, funk, folk, blues, rock and punk, Beck has found mass appeal with his eclectic cross-pollination of nearly all musical genres.
Beck spent his early years playing on the streets of New York and L.A. In 1993, he recorded "Loser" for Bongload Records, a self-deprecating and hilarious song that would propel him to superstardom. DGC released Mellow Gold in 1994, and two independent labels released two separate albums within months of his major label debut. K Records released One Foot in the Grave and Flipside Records put out Stereopathetic Soul Manure.
In 1996, Beck recorded Odelay, which contained the single, "Where It's At." Odelay and Beck earned a Grammy for Best Alternative Music Performance in 1997. A year later, Mutations was released and Beck showed the world that he could still pen a very lovely batch of folk songs. His latest effort, Midnight Vultures, marks a return to the supercharged funk fusion of Odelay.
