Welcome !
    Mighty Sam McClain
A powerhouse vocalist in the soulful blues tradition of Bobby "Blue" Bland, Little Milton, and Solomon Burke, Mighty Sam McClain found fame in the 1990s after nearly forty years of menial jobs and one-night stands on the chitlin' circuit. Born in 1941 in Louisiana, McClain gained his initial musical experience singing in a local gospel choir. After leaving home at the age of 13, McClain hooked up with bandleader Little Melvin Underwood, who employed him first as a valet and then as a featured vocalist. McClain recorded several singles (including what may be the only R&B version of Patsy Cline's "Sweet Dreams") for various labels between 1966 and 1971; none of them charted, however, and McClain soon drifted out of the music business. It wasn't until the mid-'80s that he resumed singing, first with Mason Ruffner drummer Kerry Brown, and then with legendary Howlin' Wolf guitarist Hubert Sumlin. By the end of the decade, McClain had settled in the Boston area, where he began recording a series of well-received albums for the Audioquest label. His 1996 album, Sledgehammer Soul and Down Home Blues, was nominated for a W.C. Handy Award, and McClain now boasts a steady following in Europe and the US. His latest record, Blues for the Soul, was released on Telarc in late 2000.

Mighty Sam McClain All We Need Is Love LiquidAudio Blues
Horn-fueled supper-club blues that may be a little too tasteful for its own good. Mighty Sam's sure got some pipes, though!
