Annihilator
Diehard riff-heads from Western Canada, Annihilator first made a dent in the thrash metal world with 1989’s Alice in Hell and the 1990 follow-up Never, Neverland. Powered by the vision of axeman Jeff Waters, Annihilator has seen a number of lineup changes through the years, with Waters being the one constant. 1993’s Set the World on Fire, 1994’s Bag of Tricks and King of the Kill, 1996’s Refresh the Demon and Live – In Command, and 1997’s Remains chronicled prolific output from Waters and a mind-numbing number of supporting musicians. Vocalist Randy Rampage, who had previously appeared on the band’s debut disc Alice in Hell, returned for 1999’s Criteria for a Black Widow, and with AIH drummer Ray Hartmann, Never, Neverland guitarist Dave Scott Davis, and new addition Russell Bergquist on bass, it looked like the circle was finally complete. Unfortunately, substance problems led to Rampage’s exit, with former Overkill guitarist Joe Comeau taking over vocal duties for 2001’s Carnival Diablos. Against all odds, the rest of the lineup stayed intact. |
