Raised on Chicago's West and South sides, Luther lived near such blues greats as Otis Rush and Muddy Waters, but didn't actually learn to play guitar until after his eighteenth birthday. Although his rock- and soul-infused guitar pyrotechnics won over more than a few fans in his native land, Luther forged a much deeper connection with blues fans in France and Germany, one which eventually convinced him to relocate to a Parisian suburb.
