Dilated Peoples
Hooking up during freestyling open mic sessions at L.A.’s Hip-Hop Shop in the early ‘90s, MCs Rakka Iriscience (a Los Angeles native, poet and graffiti artist) and Evidence (who's been involved with the Zulu Nation and was Council for West Coast Rocksteady Crew) became well-known members of the Los Angeles rap underground, thanks to their thoughtful, powerful rhymes and mic presence. With the addition of DJ Babu from the World Famous Beat Junkies in 1997, the pair became Dilated Peoples. A single released that year, “Third Degree,” was a shot that did not go unnoticed. The pair have done lots of outside work (Evidence has done some remixing for the Beastie Boys, among others), but are currently focused on the release of their debut album, The Platform, on Capitol Records. |
