Supersuckers
Though they originally hailed from Tucson, Arizona, the Supersuckers are now as much of a Seattle institution as designer coffee or Microsoft -- and a hell of a lot cooler, besides. Sex, booze, and the sheer joy of rocking are the subjects of most Supersuckers songs; and while they're hardly breaking new ground with these sort of obsessions, they do manage to put 'em across with plenty of raw power and a certain vomit-covered panache. Bassist/singer Eddie Spaghetti, guitarists Ron Heathman and Dan "Thunder" Bolton, and drummer Dancing Eagle have perfected their personal brand of alcohol-fueled punk-boogie over the course of several albums for Sub Pop, and now appear poised to tackle the new millennium like a monster truck on a pile of junkers. Their most recent album, The Evil Powers Of Rock And Roll, was released on Koch Classics in 1999 to worldwide acclaim, and the band recently contributed to Free The West Memphis Three, a benefit album for a trio of young men from Arkansas who have been convicted of murder, despite glaring inconsistencies in the prosecution's case. The band's bonus track from the album, a cover of the Thin Lizzy classic "Jailbreak," is available on the internet as a MUSICBLITZ Exclusive! Rock on, Supersuckers! |
