Blinker The Star
A lo-fi pop wunderkind, Toronto musician Jordon Zadorozny took the name Blinker the Star for his both his band and his eponymous 1995 debut. In a heated bidding war, A&M won the right to release his next record, Bourgeois Kitten, which drew the attention of Hole singer Courtney Love. Laboring over the follow-up to her band's breakthrough album Live Through This, Love enlisted Zadorozny for some writing and recording help. Though only one of his songs made it onto the final product (1998's Celebrity Skin), Zadorozny's brush with an extravagant recording budget seemed to rub off on him. His hook-filled music took a marked turn toward higher production values on Blinker the Star's 1999 DreamWorks release, August Everywhere. |
