Led by pop-culture junkie Dave Wyndorf, the band soon merged the aggression of the Stooges and the MC5 with the heaviness of Black Sabbath, the tripped-out excursions of Hawkwind, and the anti-social attitude of late-'60s biker flicks. Popular in Europe since the early '90s, Monster Magnet has slowly built a rabid US following through a series of excellent and imaginative records, and a reputation for stage-searing live shows.
