Welcome !
    Borknagar
Formed in 1995 after the demise of the Norwegian band Molested, Borknagar is the brainchild of guitarist Oystein Brun, whose goal was to assemble an epic-sounding Black Metal supergroup. Originally a one-off project featuring members of Ancient, Immortal, Gorgoroth, and Enslaved, Brun and Borknagar landed a deal on the tiny Malicious Records label, based only on its members’ past track record. The band’s eponymous debut showed Borknager’s signature sound -- lush orchestrations, rich vocal choirs, and densely-packed song arrangements –- already firmly in place. Due to the overwhelming popularity of their debut, Brun & Co. decided to make a full-time go of Borknager, releasing the now-classic The Olden Domain in 1997. A successful European tour in support of the album was followed by a series of lineup changes, though 1998's The Archaic Course, was again met with critical nods and popular success in the metal community. In early 2000, the group began collaborating with famed producer/engineer Peter Tatgren on their third album. Quintessence, released in Summer 2000, was an intriguing hybrid of folk, metal, and other elements that showcased the band’s ever-evolving sound and musical maturity.

Borknagar The Presence Is Ominous Metal
Grab your wenches and a Viking helmet full of beer. You're going to need both, and maybe a village to burn, when you hear this one!
