Mighty Diamonds
Though roots passed out of fashion at the turn of the decade, the Diamonds still thrived, teaming with famed producer Gussie Clarke to creating big hits like the 1981 international smash “Pass the Kouchie.” Later in the '80s, the group showed it could also make the transition into reggae’s high-tech future, successfully incorporating digital dancehall grooves on 1988’s hard-hitting Get Ready. The Diamonds stayed strong in the next decade, hooking up with Junior Reid for the acclaimed Bust Out album in 1993 and pulling big crowds on their busy touring schedule. Heads of Government, released in 1999, hauled in the big names for a comeback, drafting top players and producers like Sly and Robbie, Mafia and Fluxy and Steely and Clevie to do the honors on a generally well-received album. Now the Diamonds are back with “So Life Goes On,” a track you’ll wish would go on, and on – and you can get it only at MUSICBLITZ!
