Welcome !
    Jazz Is Dead
The musicians collectively known as Jazz Is Dead devote themselves to paying tribute to the music of The Grateful Dead. An all-star lineup consisting of one-time Aquarium Rescue Unit guitarist Jimmy Herring, drummers Jeff Sipe and Rod Morgenstein (both replaced former Mahivishnu Orchestra drummer Billy Cobham who departed the group in early 1999), former Dixie Dregs keyboardist T. Lavitz and ex-Weather Report bassist Alphonso Johnson, Jazz Is Dead takes a contemporary fusion approach to their homage to the Grateful Dead's classics, sans vocals. They released the studio album Blue Light Rain in 1998 and followed with the live release, Laughing Water in 1999.
