Jurassic 5 Formed in 1993, Jurassic 5 came together from the merger between two crews, Rebels of Rhythm and Unity Committee. One of the great LA underground rap groups ever since, Jurassic 5 consists of four MCs (Chali 2NA, Zaakir, Akil, and Marc 7) and two DJs (Cut Chemist and DJ Nu-Mark). In 1997, they self-released and EP that sold more than 200,000 copies in the United States and Europe which resulted in a contract with a major record label the following year. The debut of their long anticipated full-length album Quality Control (2000) followed along the same, righteous path of other well known LA underground favs such as the Freestyle Fellowship and the Pharcyde. |
