Welcome !
Big Sandy and His Fly-Rite Boys
Big Sandy and His Fly-Rite Boys have been serving up their brand of rockabilly, Texas swing and boogie well enough (and long enough) to rightly be considered a national treasure. Formed in 1988 as "Big Sandy and the Fly-Rite Trio", the band released Fly Right (1992), followed by On The Go, a record that propelled the band into the musical spotlight. The ranks swelled with the addition of guitarist Ashley Kingman and steel guitarist Lee Jeffries, and they began cutting tracks with former Blaster Dave Alvin. Soon the band found its groove, playing a So-Cal musical gumbo that incorporated elements of Bob Wills-style Western swing, roadhouse piano and rockabilly punch, with Big Sandy's emotive croon leading the way. Nine albums later (including Big Sandy's 1998 solo release, Dedicated To You, an homage to '50's L.A doo-wop), the band has weathered a few membership changes, but still reign supreme in Southern California’s eclectic roots music scene. So if it's dancing or romancing you're in the mood for, Big Sandy and His Fly-Rite Boys will be more than happy to lay down the perfect soundtrack.
