Welcome !
    Gary Numan
Kraftwerk, Ultravox and David Bowie all contributed to the sound and style of Gary Numan, whose career apexed with his hit single, “Cars.” Born in Hammersmith, England in 1958, Gary Webb got his start as guitarist for The Lasers, which morphed into punk act, Tubeway Army. Numan was ultimately promoted to the band’s frontman. While they were in the studio recording their Beggar’s Banquet debut, he discovered synthesizers, and laid his axe to rest. Most of the other band members weren’t in accord with his techno epiphany, and bailed. This left Numan and his bassist Paul Gardiner to complete the album, entitled Tubeway Army (1979), officially released by Gary Numan and Tubeway Army. That same year, he also released Replicas and The Pleasure Principle. The first album where Numan received solo billing, …Principle featured the song that became synonymous with his name, “Cars.” Fading from mainstream consciousness by the early ‘80s, he recently made a mild comeback, propelled by his hit, “Down In The Park,” covered by Marilyn Manson. He currently enjoys a cult status among indie label-loving types.

Gary Numan Cars (Live) MP3 Pop
Other than crowd some sporadic cheers, this live rendition of the ’79 hit offers little beyond the original studio take -- this "Car" is a lemon.
