Welcome !
    Snoop Dogg
Nicknamed for his resemblance to a certain cartoon beagle, Snoop Dogg (nee Calvin Broadus) came up from the streets of Long Beach to find fame as one of the top-selling rap artists of all time. Imprisoned for cocaine possession soon after graduating from high school, Snoop gave a tape to his cousin, Warren G. who in turn played it for his brother, Dr. Dre. Dre took such a shine to Snoop’s flow that he invited him to contribute to the soundtrack for the film Deep Cover as well as for his own 1992 album, The Chronic, which went on to become one of the best-selling rap albums ever. Snoop released his debut, the classic Doggystyle in 1994 and was subsequently voted best rapper in the Rolling Stone readers poll and won an MTV award for best rap video with “Doggy Dogg World.”

Charged and acquitted with the murder of a rival gang member in 1995, Snoop bounced back with his second album, Tha Doggfather, released just three months after the death of friend and labelmate Tupac Shakur, to whom the album was dedicated. The album debuted at number one, and Snoop then joined the high-profile Lollapalooza tour following a cancelled headlining tour for the album.

Snoop shocked the rap world in 1998 by announcing that he’d be departing from Death Row Records, citing a fear for his life. In March of ’99, he dropped the “Doggy” from his name and joined Master P’s No Limit label. His No Limit debut, Da Game Is to Be Sold, Not to Be Told, hit the charts at number one, further cementing his place in the upper eschelons of rap. Dead Man Walkin’ was released in 2000.
