James Cotton
Budding blues harpists take heed: If you want to learn how to wail properly, you could do a whole lot worse than to listen to James Cotton. Born in 1935 in Tunica, Mississippi, Cotton learned his gritty style from Sonny Boy Williamson II while he was still in his early teens, and landed a permanent harp gig with Muddy Waters by the time he was nineteen. Though he may not be as famous as Little Walter or Junior Wells, Muddy's previous harp players, Cotton's thirty years of righteous solo recordings prove that he's every inch their equal. |

A vibrant blues instrumental from Cotton's new album, with his ageless harp leading the charge. Tastier than a freshly-dunked rib tib!
