Jimmy Page & the Black Crowes
Rock and Roll soldiers in a distinctly rock-poor era, Black Crowes are unrepentant throwbacks to the days when boogie monsters like Humble Pie, the Faces, and the pre-Geritol Rolling Stones stalked the land. Released in 1989 at the height of hair-metal mania, the band's debut album Shake Your Money Maker struck a blow for the cause of earthy, sweaty, and soulful rock and roll, selling over five million copies in the process. Though the group's commercial standing has slipped somewhat in recent years, vocalist Chris Robinson and his guitarist brother Rich continue to carry out their mission with the fervor of true believers. The band's latest recording, Live At The Greek, is an aural souvenir from a brief 1999 tour which featured the presence and talents of Led Zeppelin guitarist Jimmy Page. |
