The latest in a long line of metallic rockers blending hip-hop in with their hard rock crunch, Taproot eschews gimmickry and posturing, instead concentrating on pure sonic assault and suburban teenage angst. Formed in 1997 by vocalist Stephen Richard, bassist Philip Lipscomb, drummer Jarrod Montague and guitarist Mike DeWolf, the band released its full-length debut in 1998, ...Something More Than Nothing..., selling over 6,000 copies.
